Mercer and Wyoming County Families Invited to Meet Zach Gowen

Athens, W.Va. – GEAR UP Southern West Virginia (GEAR UP SWV) is excited to announce two special events for rising 8th and 9th grade students and their families in Mercer, Monroe, Summers, Raleigh and Wyoming Counties. The events will highlight opportunities for parents/guardians to support their student’s pursuit of a two- or four-year college degree. The events will feature special guest Zach Gowen, an inspiring figure who advocates for perseverance and resilience. Plus, dinner will be provided.

Gowen is a former WWE superstar and was on the American Ninja Warrior. Gowen will be at both events.

• What: GEAR UP SWV Family Night 2024 for 8th & 9th Grade Parents in Wyoming and Raleigh Counties
• When: Monday. August 26, from 5:30 pm to 8:00 p.m.
• Where: Wyoming County Board of Education at 155 Park Street in Pineville
• What: GEAR UP SWV Family Night 2024 for Mercer, Monroe, Summers and Raleigh
• When: Tuesday, August 27, 2024, from 5:30 pm to 8:00 p.m.
• Where: Mercer County Technical Education Center, at 1397 Stafford Dr., Princeton

The events are specifically designed to bring families together in a supportive environment where they can hear from an incredible speaker without having to worry about dinner and learn more about the resources of GEAR UP SWV.

Both events are free to attend, and no advance registration is required. These events are part of GEAR UP SWV’s ongoing commitment to fostering strong family-school partnerships and supporting parents and guardians in their critical roles within the educational community.
