Students to Present 60 Peer‑Created Projects at ‘Bookapalooza’
What: Mercer County high school students will participate in Bookapalooza, an interactive, student‑designed learning event featuring 60 peer‑created presentations and displays. Instead of a traditional field trip, students will explore hands‑on demonstrations, visual exhibits, and creative presentations centered on books they have selected and read.
Who: Ninth & Tenth Grade Student presenters and participants from:
- Bluefield High School
- Montcalm High School
- Princeton Senior High School
- PikeView High School
Hosted by GEAR UP Southern West Virginia, Mercer County
When: Thursday, February 19, 2026
- Session 1: 9:30–11:00 AM
- Session 2: 12:00–1:30 PM
Where: Concord University Ballroom, Athens, WV
Why: This student‑powered event strengthens a college‑going culture by bringing young learners onto a college campus, showcasing student creativity, and promoting a love of reading and discovery.
