GEAR UP SWV hosts events to inspire, engage, and support students and families on their journey toward higher education. These experiences are designed to build confidence, spark curiosity, and strengthen connections between school, community, and future goals. By bringing people together, GEAR UP SWV helps students see what’s possible and take meaningful steps toward success.

Upcoming Family Field Trips

GEAR UP Southern West Virginia (SWV) is excited to announce a series of free college bus tours this spring for cohort students and their families. These visits offer an invaluable opportunity to explore higher education options, experience campus life firsthand, learn about academic programs, and connect with admissions representatives.

The upcoming tours include visits to West Virginia University (WVU) as well as WVU Tech and the
West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine (WVSOM). Registration is required, and spaces are limited. Families are encouraged to reserve their spots quickly.

These no-cost tours are designed to empower families with the information and experiences they
need to make informed decisions about future college pathways. Students will have the opportunity
to walk campus grounds, speak with current students and faculty, and gain insights into admissions
procedures and academic offerings.
